Hello! I am Jen Hyatt, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have a passion for supporting fellow humans through challenges and enjoy being a part of the client's growth within therapy.
My approach
I am down to earth, open minded, and supportive (with a dash of healthy humor). I utilize an integrative approach to therapy, blending holistic and innovative techniques towards a customized therapy plan for each person I work with. I specialize in a fusion of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused, Humanstic, Person-Centered (Rogerian) therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
My focus
My approach to therapy is walking alongside clients as they learn new ways to respond to such things as anxiety, depression, relationships, life transitions, and more. I work with a lot of deep thinkers, neurodivergents, empaths, LGBTQIA+, and striving for optimal life individuals who are doing their best yet have insight that life may hold more.
My communication style
I balance listening with helpful communication towards client needs. I create an inviting and non-judgmental space where clients may feel free to express their inner most thoughts, life experiences, and difficulties in order to find a path forward.
My journey to therapy
Being a therapist is something that organically unfolded. I am a total nerd, lover of learning, and self growth. I am also a former teacher who found that I spent more time focusing on the well-being of my students than academic pursuits or societal constructs of a one sized fits all box. I am also a rebel at heart. This has evolved over the years and each progression led me to where I am today where I have come to a realization that this is what I am meant to do in this world. Therapy is my jam and I love (absolutely love) working with my clients!
My goals for you
My approach is collaborative in nature. We approach goal setting together to target what will be most beneficial for you.
My first session with you
The first session is an opportunity to get to know one another. This is a chance for you to tell me more about what brought you to therapy and how this time may be most beneficial for you.
